The following oils should not be used in the first 3-4
months of pregnancy: Sweet Fennel, peppermint, rose.
Essential oils to avoid during entire pregnancy are:
Basil, clary sage, cedarwood, cypress, jasmine, juniper, sweet marjoram, myrrh, nutmeg, pennyroyal, rosemary, sage, thyme, wintergreen and any
essential oil considered toxic. Please ask if you are unsure.
Aromatherapy can be of great help during childbirth since some essential oils strengthen and deepen contractions, promote relaxation and have mild analgesic effect.

flow, in mum and relief colic for baby. This is quite a
delicious tea to drink. If mum is breast feeding, baby
will receive the benefits through the breast milk.
Avoid drinking sage or peppermint tea however as this

How to use the oils:
Massage (which means to apply oils to the skin) is
perhaps the oldest and simplest method of all
medical treatments. It is one of the easiest ways of
attaining and maintaining good health. It is a healing
instinct, innate in us all; to rub an aching shoulder or
to stroke a furrowed brow.
Dilutions – dilute essential oils into a base of cold
pressed almond, cocnut or apricot kernal oil for
A Birth to 2 years old use a ¼% dilution, which is approx 1 drop of essential oil to 10ml of base oil.
A 2 to 5 years old use a ½ %, which is approx 2 drops of essential oil in 10ml of base oil.
A 5 years to 10 years old use 1%, which is approx 3 drops of essential oil to 10ml of base oil.
A 10 years and on use a dilution of approx 5 drops of essential oil in 10ml of base oil.
Please do not use Baby oil as it is a petro chemical product, it is a mineral oil that cannot carry essential oils into the skin or body. Baby oil should never be used as a base for essential oils for babies, children or adults; it has no place in aromatherapy.
