Recipe Ideas:

SOAP BARS

The simplest way to create your very own soap bars is using a soap base such as melt and pour.  Here are 2 recipes to try using soap base.

Pink Lavender Soap

  • Add 1kg of soap base, 30g of water and 30g pink clay to a double boiler.
  • Cover on heat and allow to melt thoroughly, stirring occasionally.
  • Once this is fully melted and is at about 70oC, take off the heat and immediately strain into a plastic jug.
  • add 20-30 grams of lavender essential oil and 20 grams of lavender flowers.
  • Work quickly so the soap does not start setting.
  • Mix well then pour directly into your moulds.
  • Let sit undisturbed for several hours until it has hardened.
  • Take out of moulds after several hours.  The soap is ready to use the next day.

Lemon Myrtle Soap

  • Add 1kg of soap base, 30g of water and 30g green clay to a double boiler.
  • Cover on heat and allow to melt thoroughly, stirring occasionally.
  • Once this is fully melted and is at about 70oC, take off the heat and immediately strain into a plastic jug.
  • add 15 grams of lemon myrtle essential oil and 15 grams of Lemon essential oil.
  • Work quickly so the soap does not start setting.
  • Mix well then pour directly into your moulds.
  • Let sit undisturbed for several hours until it has hardened.
  • Take out of moulds after several hours.  The soap is ready to use the next day.

Pro Tip: You can substitute other essential oils instead of the ones in the example above.  You will need to be aware of the individual cautions for each essential oil (see Essential Oil Safety in Book 1).  You will need to adjust the amount of each essential oil choice (ie you would only use about 5g of rose or chamomile essential oil.

You can substitute other clays in the above examples such as zeolite or bentonite clay

lay.
