Vitex originates from a small native tree in Central Asia. This tree is also known as Chaste Tree Berry, Vitex agnus-castus & also by Agnus-castus which has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years. It treats menstrual problems, hormonal imbalances and infertility in women. It's also most beneficial in the treatment of skin issues related to hormones in teenage girls through to young women.
Holistic experts recommend taking 200 milligrams of this berry on a daily basis to treat infertility. According to a recent study, a blend of this berry with green tea will enhance the vitamins and minerals in the body. Drinking up to 3 cups of herbal tea per day is recommended. It is especially useful for women who have been trying unsuccessfully to conceive for at least 12 months.
Researchers have more recently been investigating the effects of chaste berry preparation for relieving the symptoms of PMS, menopause, depression, and water retention. Around 90 percent of women who took the preparation for three months noticed a decrease in their symptoms. This is a great result for the world of medicine.
Vitex or the female herb is native to Asia and for over 2000 years, many gynecological problems have been resolved with the help of this herb. Men also use it for lowering sexual desire, treating benign prostate, and increasing flow of urine. According to history, monks chewed the tree parts to make it easier to stay celibate.
This female herb works by regulating and stimulating the pituitary gland. This is the gland that normalises the balance of progesterone and estrogen in the body. The pituitary gland allows the relevant chemical signals to be sent to the ovaries with regards to how much hormones are made.
This herb has the ability to restore the progesterone levels by maximizing luteal levels in the second half of the menstrual cycle. Since there are no hormones or chemicals in this herb, it can act more supportive through direct action on the body. According to a well-known herbalist, vitex works behind the scenes to gently restore the body's balance.
It can take anywhere from one to six months for this herb to be completely effective. You will experience some mild symptoms for the first few weeks, but within a month, you will feel much healthier and your PMS symptoms will subside. Patience is the key here. This berry works best when it is incorporated with a healthy lifestyle such as plenty of exercise, adequate sunshine, and healthy foods. Chaste Tree Berry is a major ingredient in Plant Essentials "New Woman" Tea which has been designed to address the major symptoms of PMS and menopause.
